Another Look With Basic Grey SC190

The same sketch challenge at SCS, just different dp and different stamps. This time I used Ambrosia from BasicGrey as well as the new color in MayArts reversible satin ribbon.

The sketch is an easy to adapt design, so you can "go to town" on how you embellish it. I wanted a more masculine look to my card which is why I tried very hard not to get "frilly". Besides the colors in Ambrosia lend it's self very well to either male or female...oh...oh! does that sound like another card using this dp?....

I stared with the JustRite C-45 monogram stamper with the damask border and one of their new, soon to be available, Trompe Script font. All of JustRite fonts and round borders are interchangeable, to use with the C-45 size monogram or with the kit wooden mounts. The new font kits have letters in three sizes so there will be a size to fit all monograms.

I stamped the poppy silhouette from Summer Botanical......have you ever tired to change the "look" of what you have stamped after all the elements are attached? Only to find that you have made a mess of it, then trying to correct the mess you make more of a mess? Then you decide that the original looked the best and....unwilling to redo the panel I had to play around with different pens, inks, and markers to cover it up. That is why the poppy silhouette has black, white and burnt orange lines.

I stamped the sentiment right on the orange panel and with quickie glue added a flower pot, from the FlowerSoft starter kit, over the poppy image.

A Study In Pink SC190

If I can't find a sketch I want to use, I know I can always turn to SCS for their challenge every week for a new design. This weeks challenge with easy and so much fun because it has so many possibilities, even using the same "elements" but with different papers and stamps.....which leads me into the another card which I have not done yet....

This one was done with the new Basic Grey designer paper, Eva. It was the perfect choice, with their fanciful flourishes and birds.

The base paper is cut 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 from certainly celery. Then I cut the 6x6 paper from corner to corner at a 45 degree angle. I trimmed the edges to fit onto the card base.

I had a dry embossed white panel from sometime ago that I had never used. It was done using the swirls folder from Cuttlebug and cut with spellbinders classic circle. The green, is BG designer paper cut with the scallop circle.

Once the papers were attached to the base card I stamped the stem from Summer Blossoms with chocolate chip SU ink over the layers of paper. The blossoms I stamped on white card stock using SU rose red, then colored with copic markers (pink, garnet, deep magenta). The blossoms are cut out and popped up with little spongy things.

The last thing I did was add inkssentials pen for highlights on the blossoms and attached a pink sheer ribbon at the corner.

Like I said "A Study In Pink". Thanks for looking.

View from the Patio

Come Join Us For..............
I wanted to join in the fun at SCS using their sketch challenge for this week. I had to thing for a long time on how to make a three layer card without any embellishments on the top layer unless it was a sentiment....and a small one at that.
Well, I thought. "if I can't put anything on the top, maybe I can put it on the inside", and that is what I did.

Come and join us for summer on the patio, take a little time to sit and enjoy each day. We don't always have to take life so fast.

Card base is bravo burgundy, the top layer is Sprout by Memory Box. The middle layer is a cream by.....well I will remember eventually..... Monondock, that's it.

The scene on the inside is was created using Summer on the Patio by Flourishes, its easy with very few colors, a little nior black palette ink, with baroque burgundy, and so saffron markers.

As you can see through the window, a topiary from Siberian Iris graces the corner of the bistro. I used a little heather Flower soft on the topiary ball.

Now on the front of the card I stamped a window, then cut out the paines so you could see into the patio. I hope you enjoy the view!

Morning Sunshine & Flowers too

Good Morning! I am a little late today.

Two of my granddaughters are visiting overnight, we went shopping last night and bought webkins. For those of you that have webkins in the house, you know that they have to be feed, housing has to be purchased and furnished and to do all this it takes $, which they earn at the arcade.....to make a long story as short as possible.....both of the computers were in use right up to bedtime and beyond.........

This is the last, so far, in a series of cards made from the new releases from Flourishes, Summer Botanical and Summer Blooms.......Summer may be almost over, but here in the South we have several more months of hot weather.
I cased this card from someone and as soon as I find it again, I will provide a link.

On this card I have used all plain card stock. It can be easy to make your own "designer" paper. With a few stamps and several different inks just add "background" designs. This one is a simple two color background. I used images from Summer Blooms, one using VersaMark, the other stamping with moonlight white. I smudged VersaMark around the edges then layered on top of a barely banana panel.

The small floral panel is stamped using direct to polymer with SU markers summer sun, more mustard, close to cocoa, and baroque burgundy......I have retired inks from SU that I use regularly, not being an SU demo. just a buyer..... anyway, the leaves are colored with certainly celery and garden green. All of those colors are stamped on a sahara sand panel. The brown has been enhanced with Flower Soft sprinkles in nut brown. It adds a little more dimension. Nancy K has a good vidio tutorial on the use of Flower Soft.

The sahara panel is layered onto white, then bravo burgundy, then barely banana, which is cut with the classic square Spellbinders. The dots are added using sarura gelly roll pen.

The final additions are a strip of banana with a punched edge, a strip of burgundy, one inch white satin ribbon, and a yellow stitch grosgrain ribbon. At the very last I added three chocolate pearls on the upper right corner. The more I looked at the card the more I realized it needed just a little something. The pearls were just the right something.

Stamps: Flourishes
paper and markers: SU
ribbon: May Arts, white unknown, yellow
pearls: Chocolate
Misc: Flower Soft and Pearls

SCS 188 Meets Summer

I had a busy week-end making cards, what fun!!
A chance to play, and all the cards were made using the same designer paper, Sprout made by Memory Box.

The stamp images are from the Flourishes new release, Summer Botanical and Summer Blossoms. The Blossoms are stamped onto cold press watercolor paper, colored with a combination of SU markers and watercolor crayons using an aqua pen....Aqua pen it is one of my most used tools in recent weeks. It is an easy way to applying just a little or a lot of color....from a marker, watercolor crayons, or ink pad.

The green triangles are stamped using the Summer Botanical set, and like the last card the images are layered using different color ink, (close to cocoa, bravo burgundy, and garden green).

To finish the card I added chocolate sheer ribbon, and a butterfly punched from, what else Sprout designer paper.

Faith, Julie, Linda, Nancy, Barb, Leslie, Susan, and Jan have new posts so stop and take a look at all the creations. They have some real beauties that you don't want to miss. It just shows you how easy & fun it is to work with anyone of the new sets.

The card sketch is from SCS sketch challenge,

Summer in The Sun!

Are you ready for the last days of Summer? Well we have some fun and fanciful sets for the dog days of summer. Take a look at Summer Botanical and Summer Blossoms.

This was so much fun to make, and easier than it looks, or maybe is does not look all that hard.

I started with inking direct to polymer with pale plum and garden green on Whisper White then added perfect plum to high light the pale plum flower...of course it does not show very well unless you take a closer look....I have found that when I ink direct to polymer I definitely have to "huff" on the stamp before applying it to paper.

Using Spellbinders long rectangles I cut the three layers... white, pale plum and MB Sprout.

The urn is part of the Flower Soft starter kit, the image was cut out, bent slightly, and adhered over the herb pot. I made three floral stems out of lavender and lilac Flower Soft... cut thin strips of green card stock to add to the bouquet.

Using an auqa pen I inked summer sun and more mustard between the herbs....not the normal or easiest way to ink the background but seems to be my normal way.

The bravo burgundy layer is inked with versa mark using Summer blooms, while the Sahara sand layer was inked with versa mark, moonlight white, garden green and bravo burgundy using the Summer Botanical set. I like the way the images from Summer can be stamped in layers using different color inks.

The strip of designer paper, that connects the burgundy and ssand layers, is from the Memory Box collection Sprout, with the addition of a strip of rhinestones to finish it off.

ETE'

It would be safe to say florals are my favorite image to work with, I love to color, I love to embellish, and I love to try different things.

This is the first, of many cards using the new set Summer On The Patio . As you can see this is a very different element from the set, you will see what I am talking about by looking at the cards made by, Susan, Faith, Nancy.

"Then wouldn't you know it, my electricity was off at home this morning, I could not add links till lunch time at work. I will do the best I can, but this not my fast computer."

I stamped the pitcher on watercolor paper and eclipse masking tape, cut out the eclipse, placed it over the first image and stamped the background using Thank You set and basic brown from SU.

The pitcher is colored using SU watercolor crayons and an aqua pen and highlighted with SU markers. One VERY important thing to remember if you do not use craft or permanent ink....like I didn't....Be careful using watercolors...too much and your background will run.......so take the time to pull out the permanent ink for background stamping and Palette makes a great burnt umber that would have worked well.

I use Spellbinders nesties to cut backing layers for many of my cards, well I save and used the "negative" image to frame the pitcher, then I cut the scallop in the dp to line up with the chocolate metallic. Added lavender sheer ribbon, lavender pearls on the pitcher base and chocolate pearls on the left side of the card.

Check out the other new additions to Flourishes stamp line with Barb, Leslie, Linda, Barb Julie, and Jan Marie

Paper: Memory Box Sprout, certainly celery, and chocolate metallic
Ink: SU markes, watercolor crayons and aqua pen with touches of inkssentials white pen
Embellish: chocolate and lavender pearls, lavender sheer ribbon

Flower Power, Soft and Feminine

I took the time to play along with the SCS challenges this week. It is a one for two challenge, CC177 and SC187.

What I really wanted to show is a new product that Flourishes will be carrying, it is called Flower Soft. Flower Soft are soft sprinkles of color that give realistic dimension to floral images. It is acid free which make it a great product for scrap-bookers too, and comes in a variety of colors.

You can make your own floral bouquet, spell your name in flowers, add dimension to stamp images as in the case here.

NancyK is making a tutorial for using Flower Soft, which I will link to when the final prepping is done.

For the challenge I used the versatile Coffee with Friends stamp set which I stamped with versa mark on the three panels, then adhered ivory flower soft to the blossoms.

The topiary from the Siberian Iris makes a nice focal point on the main panel. Coloring with SU markers in shades of green and brown allowed me to sprinkle Flower soft in shades of Spring over the topiary ball at the top. Using the long rectangle nesties I cut the white panel, then to achive the thin layer under the white panel I hand cut the sahra sand, then used the scallop rectangle for the groovy guava panel.

The thank you tag with a pearl instead of a brag and white sheer ribbon finish the look, then at the very last I added just a hint of scalloped edging behind the tag. The little butterfly is cut from stationary that come with the Flower Soft starter kit.
