It Will Be JustRite

Just a little of the Rite stuff in this combo pack.
Flourishes has a lot of the new JustRite products in stock now. I have used one of the JR ensembles, Classic Circle Stampers III. This ensemble comes with its own circle stamper, 6 borders and 6 centers. It is 3 1/4" in diameter, if you use the center and border. The designer center measures 2 1/4".

In this case I used two of the designer centers to make a gift set featuring a box, card, and candle.

The box is pre-made, all I did was fold it into a box and covered it with SU ------ and Memory Box Sparkle. I stamped along the rim of the box lid, I added orange/ gold reversible. The little hang tag is inked direct to rubber, cut from the same just because designer center that was used on the card.

If you look close you will see that a black cat eyelet...to go with the Fall theme.....on the hang tag, along with the 1/4 inch sheer ribbon.

It just so happens my Granddaughters name is Autumn and she has a birthday in October. I will probably add another hang tag, one to say It's your Birthday.

All of the circles are cut using the Classic circles from Spellbinders. I have come to rely more and more on my Spellbinders dies. Using Spellbinders can be a dream, they are fast and perfect with every cut.

You need perfect cuts when you are layering, for the just because circle, I stamped once on sahara sand the again on marigold morning (SU) paper. Both were cut with nesties, the marigold morning circle was then hand cut along the "lines".
I used pop dots to adhere it to the sahara circle....then it was adhered to the brown scallop with more pop dots.

After I had my circle done then I designed the card!

I had to find a paper that the JustRite circle looked good on, creamy caramel. I still had a piece of Sparkle paper left, more tango tangerine and how about a little thyme to set off the colors in the DP. That was all well and good but the base card was too plain, I used the large background from Birds on a Vine and creamy caramel ink.....and you would not believe how may different pieces of ribbon I tried till I settled on the ivory sheer, it was just the right weight for the card as I did not want to over power the rest of the design.

The candle was the first project of this gift set I made, and the easiest. I stamped the sentiment from JR Harmony III on dp, layered with chocolate chip then tango tangerine.
I used my paper crimper on chocolate chip paper, then came tango tangerine, and more dp. Apple green sheer ribbon is tied in a slot at the top of the circle and adhered with pop dot.

I Can Only Imagine

Imagine, being 19 away from home for the first time in your life with a bunch of other young men and woman at boot camp for 8 long weeks of your life........to par phrase Michael view of boot camp .... "It's like baseball practice on steroids".

I have worked with Michael's mom for over 13 years, when she told me he was leaving for basic training with the U S Coast Guard, and the only thing they have to look forward to is mail call I said ........."well I can send him a few cards while he is there"..... after all I have a son in the Coast Guard....I make cards, lots of cards...and I was an "e-mail" Santa Claus to Michael when he was much younger.
This is the second card I have sent to Michael, the first one was very stunning in its simplicity. It is also a case of I sent the card before I took a good picture of it and I deleted the "OK" picture thinking I would get another....yikes...I hate when I do that. What makes this card so cool is the fact that it was made from the left over pieces of the first one.

The sentiment is "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing" The picture looked much much more in focus when I was editing it.

I cut circles with Spellbinders classic circle nestiblilities, when I cut them I purposely lined them up in the middle of the small piece of card stock. The blue circle was cut in my base card. I knew I would make another card in the red, white, and blue and just like the "positive nest" of circles the negatives from those cuts line up perfectly.

The red center circle is cut from chip board, painted with laminates mica and simple solution. As with all subtle shimmer it is hard to photograph. The medallion in the middle is from a key chain.

After making the card I was looking at it and trying to place....something more at the top. I tried ribbon, while red white and blue ribbon worked great down the left side of the white card (I did not get a picture of) I didn't like the looks of it here.

I remembered that I have several JustRite alphabets in multiple sizes, surly I could find something. The one I used is from Special Occasions, it is the mid size alpha and stamped in white.

Guess what???????? I found that I did not erase this first one!! The white card is really white not a shade of blue, but hey....my pictures are not always perfect!

I used the JustRite Harmony III stamper on my card, it can be very feminine or masculine. In this case its to tell someone that the journey to your destination can be hard, but the final destination makes it all worth while.

As you can see I cut the circles out using the paper from the previous card. I inked direct to rubber on the circle stamper then cut with Spellbinders nesties.

Add a touch of ribbon and DONE!

I have been a little slow working with all the new products from JustRite, but now that I have started I have more in mind. While you are waiting for me to finish a project, take a look at what Jan Marie has made. Very creative!

Gifts of Friendship

Here is another one from the Whimsical Autumn set by Carolyn King using the sketch challenge 194from SCS.
I was not happy with the "frame"made with the leaf stem, I needed to play around with the arrangement a little more. If I had "flipped" the image each time I stamped, I may have liked it much better. But as we all know once you stamp on your finished image, there is no going back. And I hate to throw away/ discard something I have worked so hard on....even if it does not look like I worked hard on it.
You know.....I remember being unhappy as a young girl going to a home in our neighborhood where an older man was out on the screen porch. He was begging me to unlock the screen door.... you see the door was locked from the outside with an old fashion (by today's standards) lock. I could not for the life of me understand why a door would be locked from the outside, or how he came to be by himself in a locked house. I don't remember if I unlocked that door, I sincerely hope not, because I have come to understand why he was locked in. Alzheimer's was never talked about when I was a young girl, I am not sure when it was recognized as a disease and given a name. I do know it needs a cure so it will not rob any of us from those we love.
Please read on to find how you may help find a cure by buying this stamp from Gina K Designs
Supplies:
Paper: tangerine tango, Sparkle by memory box, certainly celery, watercolor paper
Ink: tangerine tango, wasabi, cocoa, garden green, summer sun
Misc: corner punch, water pen, brown sheer ribbon

Alzheimers Awareness

Carolyn King has illustrated a stamp set as a touching way to remember her grandmother who just passed away from Alzheimer's disease, Gina K has shared it with us during her last release. Many of us have been touched by this hideous disease, if not personally we surly have friends that have and are dealing with Alzheimer's.

My brother-in-law had to live with this disease for 10 years before it claimed his life 6 months ago. It is hard to see family members struggle to cope with the ravaging affects of this disease. Right now, more than 5 million Americans like with Alzheimer's. Every 71 seconds, someone will develop it, and it is the sixth leading cause of death.

Having heard the story of how much Carolyn's grandmother meant to her we here at Flourishes want to support her cause, and the cause for every Alzheimer's victim. By buying Carolyn's set we know that 100% of her proceeds will go toward the Alzheimer's Association in honor of her grandmother. By making a card we are putting our arms around Carolyn in the way we know best.....to stamp our hearts out!

We at Flourishes hope you will follow all the links to the design teams blog and read our stories. If you can, buy Carolyn's set Whimsical Autumn knowing you will be helping other families who are dealing with this as well.

JustRite Harmony

You know, I think I could really get into this, you know, changing from my usual dark papers to light, bright, and cheery. But then when you are working with fun beautiful papers, like euphoria, and the newly arrived JustRite products, it is not too hard to create something soft and feminine...What do you think????

Sometimes it can take me all day or two days to come up with a sketch, colors, and embellishments that suit me. In this case everything just "fell" into place. Of course I did start, sort of, with one of the cards on the front of the box. The size of the stamp, 3 inches, pretty much precludes it being the main focus, fortunately there are 6 fun and beautiful centers as well as borders to use.

This ensemble is called Harmony classic Circle Stamper III, there are many more to choose from, check it out.
Most supplies may be purchased at Flourishes: euphoria paper, blue satin ribbon, Harmony Stamper III, butterfly moments, Spellbinders classic circle cutter.

Thanks for looking, and check back tomorrow. We at Flourishes, will be helping support Carolyn King aka Cammie with Alzheimer's Awareness Day.

Greetings!

Here is my first attempt at changing my predictable style using dark papers with little embellishment. As you can see in Jan's latest creation we both have a challenge to change from "rut" of using the same tones.

I have tired for a little more feminine look and feel to this marvelous set created for Flourishes using a concept (Mixed Greetings) from Leslie Miller.

I started with very vanilla base card, then added a scrap of green paper left from a scrap book project. I stamped the flowers on water color paper and used a combination of SU markers that I blended using a water pen. A water pen can blend mistakes as well as give you many shades of the same color from light to dark. I find it invaluable when doing anything with watercolors.

The bowl was stamped on a small piece of euphoria paper with night of navy, cut out and attached to the watercolor paper. I used my water pen with creamy caramel, more mustard for the background, with just a touch of summer sun.

Pink braided trim, white pearls, and prima flowers round out the card, with the finishing touch of certainly celery for the greeting and butterfly, oh and the small flower in the lower left corner.

Forest Of Trees

If you have not seen the new tree set that Flourishes just released you are missing out on trees for every season.

The images give you so many options. As you can see here and here Fall looks to be the "in season" right now. And what a beautiful job Julie , Leslie, and Linda have done. Of course Barb, Susan and Faith are not slouches when it comes to creating.

Well, we don't have what I would call Fall in Florida, well I take that back, we have one week in October that is Fall....anyway I skipped right on to winter.

The background scene is one I had stamped and colored last winter using a variety of SU markers, Sparkles, and paper shimmer. Having that done gave me a head start and all I had to do was stamp the evergreen tree with wild wasaba ink on the edge of wild wasaba paper, then with an exaco knife and ruler I cut the straight edges. With a Fiskers spring release scissors I cut around the evergreen tree and added a few high lights with inkessencals pen.

I stamped some flourishsy snowflakes on the base card with Versa Mark but they are part of next months release, you don't really see them, and I can't talk about it yet so shhhh.

The sentiment is from Mixed Greetings, stamped on white and layered with red. The piercing is done with a Ornare Piercer and mat (which is just the coolest thing and so easy)

This last card is cased from a design by Faith she does the most amazing job with colors.......well I used the evergreen from Forest of Trees, stamped on water color paper with wild wasaba ink. Then I took my quickie glue pen, added a few random lines of glue all over the card and sprinkled with dazzling diamonds.

I used an aqua pen and distress inks to add a little color wash around the edges.

The sentiment is from Flourished Christmas and Rejoice. The paper is dark brown, and if you look close you can see that I used the scor pal to add score lines. The other paper is Christmas glitter (a new set of papers coming soon). In the meantime check out the new release bundle at Flouirshes and save when you buy all three stamp sets.

Thanks for looking.

Release Week! At Flourishes

Oh, why oh why do I wait till the last minute to get everything posted? Well maybe like most of us I only have the last minute to get everything done, that has been the case this week.

Birds On The Vine

Here are two cards using the same stamp set as well as the same sketch from SCS. The first one I started out playing with an ornair piercer and template, I added a few Prima flowers, then I colored around a few of the piercings to look a little like leaves. Flouirshes will carry Ornair piercers and mats to use with the new Spellbinders pierceabilities. If you have never tired piercing, it is faster than I thought it would be with many design options, but that is another post.
Then I went looking for DP that would match my base card and the flowers I used as well as "What sketch would work with this"? The DP is Sprout by Memory Box, the only other paper is a small piece of white and dark brown, the sketch is from CS 191 challenge.
I embellished the card with more flowers, a left over butterfly stamped on vellum.

Stamps: Birds on the Vine, Mixed Greetings, Butterfly moments
Paper: Sprout, white and dark brown
Ink: chocolate chip, inkssentials pen, purely pomegranate,
Misc: prima flowers, black brad, silver embossing powder

I stamped the smaller version of birds on the vine with navy on confetti paper. Forest of Trees is stamped on navy paper with versa mark then wiped with green pearl ex. The sentiment is stamped on confetti and layer with navy and DP Ambrosia. The base card is one of the new papers from SU, tangerine tango.

The bird is cut from real rust with a bit of red sheer ribbon. I cased the idea of the red ribbon when I saw a card made by Julie

paper: tangerine tango, confetti, n of navy, BG Ambrosia. real rust
Ink: n of navy, versa mark, tangerine tango
Misc: red sheer ribbon

Secrets and Recipes

Here is another card made using the C-30 monogramer by JustRite. This card is from a sketch challenge I found at Joy in a Jar blog. Joy has some great sketches that I go check out when I can not think of one.

I thought this sketch would work fine for a recipe "holder" and what better way to show off the monogram, which by the way will be blog candy starting Thursday on Flourishes
Newsletter.

While I am not fond of working with orange, I have found that the challenge has been good, I have spent hours coming up with just the right combination of papers.

The base is SUs new tangerine tango, and wouldn't you know, it matches BasicGreys new paper, ambrosia.

First I printed the recipe on apricot appeal, backed by ttango, I set that aside while I cut bayou blue and attached to base card. Then came a panel from ambrosia. Next I drew a pencil line to aliened the letters from the monogram to spell recipe. After the ink dried I erased the line using a white eraser.

The middle layer is ambrosia and bayou blue, the next layer is black and ambrosia, and the last is ttango and apricot appeal. I finished with a monogram of the letter s (for secret) with the addition of black ribbon and black pearls.

Check the newsletter on Thursday to see how you can be in the drawing for the C-30.

Something Blowing in The Wind

The wind had been blowing here all day due to hurricane Gustav, and it looks like hurricane Hanna is following close behind. It remands to be seen on which coast she will land, while we wait I have something blowing in the wind too.

I have made a card to day using the C-30 monogram stamper, a smaller version of the C-45. As you will see this week is subsequent cards how versatile this little stamp can be.

The C-30 comes with 3 interchangeable "damask" borders and a large alphabet (7/8") & one reversible ink pad. While Flourishes does not sell the C-30, one will be available. Stay tuned this for more information on how you can win one.

For my card I stamped Rock a bye Baby onto water color paper. Mixing pure pigments (lemon drop) with simple solution I "painted" the sun. Like Nancy Kirk showed us in her tutorial, the pigments produce an intense color with shimmer. I added just a touch of iridescent red, just under the suns "cheeks". It shows very intense in a bright lite while IRL it does not show very much at all. The rest of the image is colored with SU markers with some of the colors being lightened with an aqua pen.

While I painted the sun with pure pigments and simple solution I dry brushed the sentiment with versa mark and stargazer....the name of the first starship Captain Jean-Luc Picard commanded, sorry I have had a Star Trek marathon going on here today. What else can you do during a storm....mica powder.

The paper used is SU barely bannana, bravo burgundy, and dp EVA by BG. The ribbon is also from BasicGrey.

Well stay tuned.............
